DIYSnag Privacy Policy

Last updated: 14 October 2026 · Applies to DIYSnag for Android (com.cesare8.snagpilot). This page is the same text shown inside the app under Settings > Privacy policy.

DIYSnag is built to work fully offline, and this policy reflects that.

What DIYSnag stores

All property, checklist, and defect data you enter — property details, room and asset lists, inspection results, defect descriptions, your own notes on a check, and handover-document status — is stored locally on your device only, in a private app database. DIYSnag does not capture photos. DIYSnag has no backend server and does not transmit this data anywhere. Uninstalling the app or clearing its data deletes it permanently; DIYSnag cannot recover it — use Settings > Export data beforehand if you want a copy.

Settings DIYSnag remembers

Alongside your inspection data the app stores two small flags on the device: which version of the disclaimer you accepted and when, and whether the one-time "rate this app" prompt has already been shown. Nothing else, and neither leaves the device.

Your PDF report

Exporting a report hands the finished PDF to your device's own print and share sheet, and you choose what happens next — print it, save it, or send it to your developer through an app you pick. DIYSnag does not send it anywhere itself and keeps no copy outside your device. The report contains your inspection data, so once you pass it to another app or person it is governed by their handling, not by this policy.

Backup files

Settings > Export data writes a single file containing your properties, checklists, and defects, saved wherever you choose via your device's own file picker — DIYSnag never uploads it anywhere. Settings > Import data reads such a file back in, adding its properties to this device without touching anything already here. A backup file is as sensitive as the data it contains, so store and share it the same way you would any other personal document.

Purchases

DIYSnag offers optional one-time purchases ("Property Pass" — Single, 3-Property, or Unlimited) to raise how many properties you can fully inspect and to unlock PDF report export, handled entirely by Google Play Billing. DIYSnag never sees or stores your payment details — Google Play processes the transaction and tells the app only whether the purchase succeeded. See Google Play's own privacy policy for how Google handles billing data.

Other Google Play features

Two buttons hand off to Google Play rather than to us. "Rate DIYSnag", and the one-time prompt after you export a report, open Google Play's own review sheet: anything you write there goes to Google Play, not to DIYSnag, and the app is not told what you said. "Share DIYSnag" passes a short message and a link to your device's share sheet, with you as the sender.

Sending us feedback

Settings > Send feedback opens your own mail app with an empty draft addressed to us. No information about your device, your properties or your inspections is attached — the draft contains only a prompt to write in. We receive it only if you choose to send it, and then we see whatever you wrote and the address you sent it from.

What DIYSnag does not do

DIYSnag does not use analytics or crash-reporting SDKs, does not show ads, does not use device advertising identifiers, and does not share, sell, or transmit your data to any third party.

Permissions

DIYSnag does not request camera, location, contacts, microphone, or storage permissions. Saving and opening backup files goes through your device's own file picker, which needs none.

The app does declare network access (INTERNET and ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE), plus Google Play's billing permission. Google Play's own billing library requires them, and the Play Store lists network access as a permission for that reason. DIYSnag itself has no server to contact and never sends your inspection data anywhere: network access is used only when you tap Buy or Restore purchases, or open the Play review sheet, and then only between your device and Google Play. You can confirm this by using the app with no connection at all — everything except purchasing works exactly the same.

Your choices

Because all data lives on your device, you control it directly: delete the app to remove everything, or use your device's app-storage settings to clear data without uninstalling.
